No fear

"If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you to follow-to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways and to hold fast to him-then the LORD will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations larger and stronger than you. Every place where you set your foot will be yours: Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River to the western sea. No man will be able to stand against you. The LORD your God, as he promised you, will put the terror and fear of you on the whole land, wherever you go."
                                -Deuteronomy 11:22-25

If we are living in obedience, we have no need to fear. Period. End of story. If we are living in obedience to God, then he will protect us. Granted, in today's terms, we probably won't be given nations, but look at this promise! If the Israelites would just obey God, he would make them a force to be reckoned with.

I feel like today, we are always anxious about something; either stressed or worrying. But these verses right here let us know that as long as we are following God's laws, there is no reason to. I personally was convicted by this. I have a lot of stress and anxiety in my life right now. Is this for a good reason, or because there is sin in my life that needs to be taken care of? Just food for thought. I would love feedback on this idea!

Out of the Overflow of the Heart

What a week. For those of you who live under a rock, the election just happened. And I think we can all agree that this one has just about taken the cake for ugly elections. I mean, people just got downright nasty with each other. At first, it made me mad. I had to take a week off of Facebook because the way people were posting was affecting the view I had of them in real life. But then, it hit home. My family got involved. Words were thrown; words that can never be taken back. I think that 20 years of pain and hurt all culminated into one ugly Facebook showdown. And sure, the post was deleted. But the hurt wasn't. I was heartbroken. These are my loved ones. And politics brought out such a painful side. But the more I thought about it, I realized the heart issue here isn't politics. Group Texts and Mass Tragedy

If you don't live under a rock, you know that a lot of chaos has been happening in our world lately. School shootings, neighborhood shootings, political nonsense, you name it. And as things normally go when mass atrocities take place, people have flocked to social media. As a quick side note, I have an equal hatred/guilt for social media debates on hot topics. I believe they accomplish absolutely nothing. People's emotions are heightened and there is a propensity to believe you can say whatever you want over the internet. I also have guilt, because it is so difficult  for me to stay out of these debates.
